After our luxurious experience at Vendome Mall, we continued our exploration of Qatar with visits to two of Doha’s most iconic locations: the Corniche and Souq Waqif. Our adventure was far from over, and the evening promised even more excitement and cultural immersion.
A Stroll Along the Corniche
Leaving Vendome Mall, we headed towards the Doha Corniche, a stunning waterfront promenade stretching for seven kilometers along Doha Bay. The Corniche offers breathtaking views of the city’s skyline, with its striking blend of modern skyscrapers and traditional architecture.
Highlights of the Corniche:
- Scenic Views: The Corniche provides a panoramic view of Doha’s impressive skyline. As we walked along the promenade, the sight of the sun setting over the city created a picturesque and tranquil atmosphere.
- Lush Green Spaces: The walkway is lined with beautifully maintained parks and gardens, offering a refreshing contrast to the urban landscape. The green spaces are perfect for a leisurely stroll or a relaxing break.
- Public Art and Monuments: Scattered along the Corniche are various public art installations and monuments, adding a touch of cultural richness to the area. Notable pieces include the Pearl Monument, symbolizing Qatar’s historical pearl diving industry.

Exploring Souq Waqif
We spent a delightful hour walking along the Corniche, enjoying the cool evening breeze and the vibrant ambiance. It’s a perfect spot for both tourists and locals to unwind and take in the beauty of Doha.
After our leisurely stroll along the Corniche, we made our way to Souq Waqif, one of Doha’s most famous and historical markets. Stepping into Souq Waqif felt like stepping back in time, with its traditional Qatari architecture and bustling atmosphere.
Highlights of Souq Waqif:
- Vibrant Market Stalls: The souq is a maze of narrow alleys filled with market stalls selling everything from spices, textiles, and jewelry to souvenirs and traditional Qatari garments. The variety and vibrancy of the goods on offer are truly captivating.
- Cultural Experiences: Souq Waqif is not just a shopping destination; it’s a cultural hub. The market is home to art galleries, cultural centers, and performance spaces where you can experience traditional Qatari music and dance.
- Cafes and Restaurants: The souq boasts a plethora of cafes and restaurants offering a diverse range of cuisines. From traditional Qatari dishes to international fare, there’s something to satisfy every palate.
As we wandered through the souq, we were drawn to the myriad of sights, sounds, and smells. The aroma of spices and incense filled the air, and the vibrant colors of the textiles and handicrafts were a feast for the eyes.

Dinner at Lamazani Restaurant
After exploring Souq Waqif, we headed to Lamazani Restaurant for dinner. Known for its warm ambiance and delicious cuisine, Lamazani is a popular spot for both locals and tourists.
Our Dinner Experience:
- Lentil Soup: We started our meal with a hearty bowl of lentil soup on Salman’s recommendation. The soup was rich and flavorful, perfectly seasoned with a blend of spices that warmed us up for the main course. We can not forget the taste of that lentil soup!
